Discover the magic of music

Welcome to the GPFAA Vocal Music Strand, a dynamic community where students unleash their voices, flourish as artists, and chase after choral music excellence! From middle school through high school, students immerse themselves in an extraordinary choral environment that challenges and inspires them to become confident, independent musicians. With an emphasis on healthy vocal technique, expressive artistry, and an exciting variety of high-quality repertoire, students not only sharpen their musical skills but also cultivate discipline, creativity, and a passion for performance. Each singer is supported in reaching their fullest potential—both as an individual and as part of the ensemble. Our choirs train intensively for local, state, and national competitions, consistently earning honors through their hard work and dedication. This is so much more than just a class; it’s a vibrant space where students are empowered, their talents are celebrated, and the pursuit of oral excellence becomes an exhilarating shared journey!

Our Story

Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy (GPFAA) is a nationally recognized 6–12 fine arts magnet school located in the heart of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Since opening in 2013, GPFAA has offered students the opportunity to pursue rigorous academics alongside focused training in seven fine arts disciplines: Visual Arts, Vocal Music, Dance, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Mariachi, and Theatre.

The Vocal Music strand is one of GPFAA’s most distinguished programs. Our vocal ensembles—made up of advanced 6th–12th grade students—are committed to excellence and artistry across a diverse choral curriculum. These ensembles have consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes awards and top honors at regional and national festivals.

Our premier high school ensemble, the GPFAA Singers, has been named Best-in-Class and Grand Champion at choral competitions across the country. They have performed by invitation at:

  • American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Conferences – 2019 & 2023

  • Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Conferences – 2019 & 2023

  • Southwestern ACDA Conferences – 2020 & 2024

GPFAA vocal students regularly perform in professional settings, including radio, musical theatre, opera, and with regional choral ensembles—extending their learning well beyond the classroom.

This success is made possible by a strong foundation in choral music education across GPISD and the passionate leadership of Alexis Galindo, Director of Choral Activities, and Joshua Jordan, Associate Director. Together, they guide and inspire the next generation of vocal artists
